This site created by Houston, Texas blues harmonica stalwart, vocalist, and recording artist Sonny Boy Terry as a harmonica teaching tool for the Houston/Texas gulf coast region. Extremely comfortable in large settings or one on one teaching. Sonny Boy Terry teaches private in-studio lessons, offers clinics or workshops for corporate, church, nonprofit, schools or for other educational purposes. Houston Harmonica Lessons is the sponsor for the 2010 Down Home Texas Blues Harmonica Festival and Harmonica Clinic in Houston coming on July 31st at Dan Electros Guitar Bar.
Houston Harmonica Lessons guidelines:
Private Lessons online or in person:
Houston Harmonica Lessons are taught from the studio at Sonny Boy Terry's home or by Skype. There are two programs you may enroll in:
Introductory Lessons.
You can purchase 2 hours worth of lessons for 100.oo. If you are a beginner, it is highly recommended you take them in 4 half hour lessons. If you have some harmonica background, you can do two one hour lessons or even a two hour lesson.
The Honor System:
You can pay here at the online store or by check or cash at the first lesson. One hundred dollars is due at the first lesson. No exceptions. Please make any checks out to: Terry Jerome.
You can also take lessons conveniently via Skype now. The cost is 80 dollars for 2 hours. You can pay a 50 dollars online for a one hour session. The same common courtesy rules apply. You must pay by the first lesson and a one day common courtesy cancellation/postponement is required. No exceptions.
You start from scratch learning scales, tecnique and common american folk songs. If you play guitar, this program can teach you how to use a neck rack like Bob Dylan, Neil Young or your favorite blues hereoes like Slim Harpo or Jimmy Reed. By lesson 4, you will be introduced to bending and some basic blues techniques. However, if you can already play, we can formulate your lessons to your skill level and what you want to get out of it. What ever your goals, we promise to be able to help.
Mentorship Program:
You can also save 20 per cent by purchasing ten hours for 350.oo with the Mentorship Program program. This is a great program for the serious student with some experience or ever total beginners. it promises to teach the student more than they ever imagined about harmonica. You must pay the 350.00 upfront online, or by check or cash at the first lesson. That is why you get the huge discount. The same cancellation/postponement guidelines apply. Lessons are designed to your skill level and what you hope to achieve. Everything in harmonica is based around blues styling from gospel, to rock, country and even some jazz. I can help you with blues harmonica on chromatic or diatonic.
